We aimed to get to the bottom of the most controversial change in high school policy: the phone ban. Did it actually improve students’ attention during class? Are teachers in favor of keeping it? To find out, we sent out a survey to both teachers and students at MLHS to gather their opinions and draw conclusions about the ban. Our results include responses from 105 students and 8 teachers over the span of two days.

Interesting Results

You would think that the phone ban has had a significantly positive impact on students’ grades, but 61% reported that there has been no noticeable effect. On top of that, the second-largest group reported that their grades are noticeably worse, although we recognize that this may be due to bias from students wanting the ban to be lifted.
