After a lot of hard work, 49 students qualified for SCDC in Atlantic City, NJ. Of those, 44 were able to participate, competing in role-plays, taking knowledge tests, writing business plans, and making presentations. It was a great learning experience and the students also enjoyed singing karaoke and meeting thousands of students from across New Jersey. Ten of the students who competed in the state competition will be advancing to the ICDC (the international competition). Congratulations to Mira Marino, Abby Strauss, Carly Yarbrough, Lorelei Woodlee (me), Jess Fazendeiro, Katherine Li, Sara Tarkanpour, Arden Maloney, Andric Lu, and Cailee Lim. As well as a recognition and congratulations to the following students for winning awards, Ella Scarola, Matt Rankel, Alicia Rosato, Avery Harrington, Andrew Modin, and Kaylee Zhang.

One incredible win for Mira Marino and Sara Tarkanpour includes a quick 1.5 minute video describing the safety rules and regulations for a DECA conference. Within a 5 hour timeframe they were able to design, film, create, and edit this video. It beat out 20 other videos that were submitted. CLICK HERE TO SEE

And finally, the MLHS DECA chapter was one of 5 out of 109 NJ clubs to achieve the Gold membership Chapter Award and one of 19 out of 109 to achieve the Thrive Campaign (for Marketing/Charity) Chapter Award.
