Every inauguration is a historical event, and this year is no exception. Donald Trump is the first president in United States history to be elected with no political experience– already making his inauguration monumental. The transition from Barack Obama to Donald Trump will take place on January 20th in front of the Capitol Building with both opponents and supporters for the new President attending. Generally, the inaugurations are accompanied by spectacular performances like Beyonce and YoYo Ma who both performed for Barack Obama, but Donald Trump’s team is struggling to put together willing artists.

Regardless, even before the inauguration Donald Trump has already initiated his plans as president-elect. One of his major goals as president is to improve the economy by cutting corporate taxes from 39 percent to 15 percent and reducing taxes for the middle class. In recent months, Trump claims credit for Sprint creating 5,000 new jobs for Americans in customer service and Oneweb for 3,000 jobs as proof of his promises. Furthermore, actions are already underway with Congress defunding Planned Parenthood once Trump is inaugurated. Thus, a women’s rights march is occurring the day after the inauguration on January 21st.  Most importantly, suggestions of scrapping ObamaCare or simply fixing it continues to be a pressing priority on the president-elect’s agenda. Just a few weeks ago, Trump dabbled in foreign relations when he accepted a call from Taiwan’s recently elected female president, which suggested that the United States now recognizes Taiwan as a country. By answering the call, Trump unintentionally accepted Taiwan as an individual country separate from China, breaking the Joint Communique switch established in 1979. Even before his official presidency, Trump is already creating waves, especially with his informal but effective use of Twitter to connect with the people.

Thus, Trump’s inauguration will indeed be a moment to remember in history because he is already changing how Americans view the presidency.
