Boonton Coffee, debatably one of MLHS’s student body’s favorite study spots, described themselves on their website as “a small town, big-hearted coffee roastin’ cafe located on Main Street in the cozy town of Boonton, New Jersey.” If that doesn’t sound appealing enough already, prepare to be amazed.

The coffee shop features multiple rooms with seating options varying between couches, lounge chairs, benches, high tables, and more; you’ll always find somewhere to settle down and get cozy. Whether you are just stopping in to grab a drink, sitting down with friends for food, or coming to listen to some live music in the performance room over the weekends, Boonton Coffee has something for everyone. If you ask us, we love the chai, matcha, cookies, and toasts, but there’s much more to the menu. Boonton coffee offers everything from savory cheese boards to sweet treats and lattes. Pop in and check out the menu; youll be greeted with a full house of happy customers and kind workers!

If all that isn’t enough, recently the bustling coffee shop has upped the ante and brought in spring specials and an entirely new toast menu. Keep reading to see how we feel about four of their five new toasts and a brand new drink option.

Matcha:

A new fan favorite, regulars at boonton coffee were ecstatic when the shop finally added matcha to the menu. Although the transience of its addition brings sorrow to many, here are our thoughts on it in case you’re hoping to try out some matcha. The drink itself is subtle and not overly sweet as well as being very customizable since buyers have various syrup addition options, different milk choices, and an decision to make between hot or iced. The matcha flavor is not overpowering, which is great to some and not as preferable to others—beware if you don’t like matcha on the milkier side. In terms of the quality of the drink, the matcha is always very well mixed and made with care. Overall, it is a great addition to the menu and a refreshing drink for spring. If you are a fan of a subtle matcha flavor, it will be perfect for you. Even if you like your matcha strong, it is still worth a shot!

Nutella Toast:

Introducing the OG Nutella toast, but new and improved! Did you like Boonton Coffee’s previous Nutella toast? Well, this one is the same, but add coconut flakes and some side salad. The fluffy bread topped with Nutella, fresh strawberries, blueberries, and coconut flakes is great for anyone with a sweet tooth. The addition of coconut flakes to the previous lineup adds a variation of textures. Watch out and don’t get too much Nutella on your hands!

Pesto Toast:

Not into a sweet toast? Try out the pesto and burrata option! The toast is topped with smooth burrata with a mild milky taste, nutty pesto, tangy balsamic, and sweet sundried tomatoes. If you aren’t sure what to choose from the menu, we think this is a great neutral option. The bread is the same for all the toasts and is an enjoyable compliment to any flavor combination, always adding a fresh and warm flavor in. Cheese lovers will have the time of their lives with the pesto toast.

Avocado Toast:

Avocado toast seems to be everyone’s favorite when it comes to America and breakfast foods. Looking to spice up your avocado toast game? Try out Boonton Coffee’s feta avocado toast. While the avocado is a very smooth flavor, the tartness of the feta and sweet balsamic does a nice job of balancing it out. On top of that, the tomatoes bring out a lovely fresh flavor. One thing to watch out for: don’t let this toast sit for too long! We made an effort to note our worries of the toast getting soggy if it lingered for too long with the avocado on it, so be weary. Have fun munching on the avocado toast if that is your meal of choice.

Hummus Toast:

Last but not least: the hummus toast. One of the most unique options, the hummus toast offers new flavors and is perfect for all the hummus lovers out there like myself. A perfect combination of fresh hummus, olives, radish, herbs, and olive oil creates a fun flavor combination on the tongue. If you are not into subtle toasts like the avocado toast or Nutella toast and want to diversify your pallet, go with this one. The textures work well together with the radish providing variation and crunch. All of the adventurous eaters will have a great time with the hummus toast.

Our Thoughts:

Overall, the new toasts are a perfect size for a filling meal, especially with the complimentary arugula salad. While the matcha may not be everyone’s cup of tea—literally—the customers seem to generally be fans of it. Since we did not get the chance to check out the goat cheese and pear toast, take this as your sign to try it for yourself and see what you think. The additions to the menu have fun variety, giving everyone something to try.

However, don’t limit yourself to just the new menu; try out the coffee shop’s iced teas, yogurt bowls, charcuterie board, and of course coffees! Make your way to Main Street, Boonton, curl up with a drink, bring a friend, and have fun!
