And if you find yourself in a dark situation/Just turn on your light and be like

Yes, and?

Pop icon and powerhouse vocalist, Ariana Grande, is once again returning to the music industry with the release of her new comeback single, “Yes, And?” The release of this single has set the stage for her upcoming album, “Eternal Sunshine.” With the announcement of this album and the release of the lead single, old and new rumors have been set flying. Today, we’ll delve into the details of Ariana’s new single and the speculation about her new album.

Yes, And?

“Yes, And” was announced on Instagram on January 7th and released on January 12th. The song is mainly a pop and house song, with some ballroom elements and takes inspiration from Madonna’s “Vogue”.

The lyrics mainly focus on ignoring haters and doing what you want. It encourages listeners to keep moving forward with lyrics such as,

And if you find yourself in a dark situation / Just turn on your light and be like / ’Yes, and’?

and

Keep moving like, ‘What’s next?’

However, most of the song is steeped in sarcasm and responds to haters with lyrics such as

Now, I’m so done with caring / What you think, no, I won’t hide / Underneath your own projections / Or change my most authentic life

and

Your business is yours and mine is mine.

Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater

It’s impossible to ignore that this song is addressing Ariana’s relationship with her Wicked costar, Ethan Slater. This recent relationship has fans calling Ariana a “home-wrecker,” as Slater is now divorced. But that’s not the only controversy surrounding this song. Currently, Grande occupies 14 spaces on the U.S. iTunes chart. However, all of them are just slightly different versions of the same song, some being instrumental, a capella, a sped up and slowed down version, along with an extended mix. The release of all of these versions is clearly a play for the No. 1 spot. This upset many fans, as it feels like Grande does not truly care about her music.

Eternal Sunshine

Eternal Sunshine, Ariana’s next album, was announced on Instagram shortly after the release of “Yes, And?” on January 17th. The cover art and the release date, March 8th, were also released. Fans are excited as Grande has not released an album since Positions in 2020, aside from a few collaborations and a 10th anniversary re-release of her debut record Yours Truly
